However, for nomads like this Kuchi woman, the animal is the preferred method of transportation as the desert dwellers make their way across the country's rugged and arduous terrain. A one-hump dromedary, like the one pictured here, is able to carry heavy loads and go 5-7 days with little or no food or water. A working camel can easily survive on thorny scrub, bones, seeds, dried leaves, grass, dates and grains such as wheat and oats.
