Kabul ’s environment in pictures Opening of the first environmental photo exhibition in Afghanistan 07.12.2006 In order to raise and reinforce environmental awareness in Afghanistan and to support the development of environmental journalism and media, NAI Supporting Afghan Open Media, the Center for International Journalism (CIJ) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) are implementing an environmental journalism training project which was launched at the end of October 2006 and will be ongoing until the end of December 2006. Several workshops were organised as part of this project: a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop for 14 media trainers of CIJ, Nai, Salam Watandar, Killid radio, Khost University and IRIN, several workshops on radio/TV/printed press environmental journalism for Kabul media journalists and one workshop on environmental photojournalism for Kabul print and TV professionals. From December 16, 2006, the project partners will present the results of their work in the first ever environmental photo exhibition in Afghanistan . Eleven photo stories will be presented to the public under the authority of renowned photographer and trainer Beth Wald, winner of the Rowell Award 2006, together with a handbook on environmental journalism by Jeff Hodson, of Internews Earth Journalism Network. The French Cultural Centre will host the exhibition for two weeks after the official opening, which will be held at 1.00 pm on Saturday 16th of December. << | >> |
