Lemar, Afghanistan’s most recent news and entertainment channel, goes beyond Kabul 13.09.2006 Lemar is Afghanistan’s newest TV station, commenced its operations in the city of Assadabad, Kunar yesterday. Afghan owned and operated, Lemar is the third broadcast entity in the media group which includes the leading ARMAN FM and TOLO TV stations. According to News Manager, Mujahid Kakar, “Lemar, in only two weeks has managed to showcase its strength in news and current affairs, securing a number of exclusive interviews and news stories. We will continue our independent reporting of local, regional and international news and events by combining news with in-depth reporting and current affairs, as well as other programming with educational themes. In addition to Pashto and Dari news services, Lemar has commenced its Urdu news transmissions daily – this is a first for an Afghan broadcaster.” Lemar is taken from the Pashto word for Sun and will broadcast news services in Pashto, Dari, Urdu and English, the only station to offer such inclusive programming in the ethnically diverse region. Lemar will eventually reach the same national and regional audiences as its sister stations via free to air terrestrial on channel UHS 31 and satellite. << | >> |
