Afghanistan's Arman-i-Kabul wins four-nation soccer tournament
23.05.2006 KABUL, May 19 (Pajhwok Afghan News): Arman-i-Kabul Friday defeated Umeed-i-Kabul by two goals on the fifth day of the six-day football competitions organised in connection with the National Olympic Day here.

Other teams participating in the tournament included Pakistan's NWFP, Iran's Sanaat-i-Khodro and a squad from Tajikistan. Umeed-i-Kabul scored only two goals against the four scored by Arman. By winning the match, Arman came on the top of the five teams participating in the contests.

On Thursday, Arman thrashed Tajikistan 2 - 0, while the match between Iran's Sanaat-i-Khodro and Umeedd-i-Kabul ended in a tie. The tournament was started on May 15. All the matches were being played at Kabul's sole Ghazi Stadium.

Muhammad Nadir Wadeed, spokesman for the National Football Federation, told Pajhwok Afghan News Arman was Afghanistan's national team formed about nine months back.
