Sonu gears up for Kabul concert! 16.07.2005 It is not often that Sonu Nigam agrees to perform live at a concert outside India, with show organizers branding him as the most expensive singer in the industry. However, the otherwise choosy singer, has gone out of his way and agreed to do an exclusive live concert in Kabul, Afghanistan, scheduled to take place on July 20. "I have been looking forward to performing there since a long time because of the tremendous fan-following I have got there. In fact, every time I have a successful number to my credit, there are a few good callers from Afghanistan complimenting me on it. Besides it is the first time any Indian artist is performing there," says Sonu. People from the music fraternity and friends have cautioned Sonu against going to Kabul, considering that it is known to be a highly sensitive place but Sonu is confident that nothing can go wrong with his Afghan fans being his best friends. "People find it difficult to digest that I am performing in Kabul in these difficult times but I am all excited about it. In fact, the place is all geared up for the concert and 10,000 tickets have already been sold," he says. << | >> |
