How can we keep our culture and tradition?

most afghan families cant connect afghan cultur with west culture. Most of them they think they still keep on afghan culture and traditions but actually the lose the pathway!

If the parents can not put our cultur and traditon to their childeren, how can bring their childeren the next generation afghan culture, tradition and religion? It means after 2 generations no body will know where they are coming from, they wont know about their ancestors, history ect. ect . . .

What we can do against it? How can we save our values and bring them to our next generations?

NIce topic T jaan. . .

I think family ( parents )should always keep the culture alive by keeping them  close to an  Afghan / muslim community . They should do that right from the start meaning . . ... when the child is around 7-8. Iam sure that no matter where we live these day . . . there has been allot of

Offcourse once they grow up to be teenagers than obviously they will try to seperate completely or may not.

These days parents are not our only resource for us to learn about our culture and religion.  There are variety of resources out there for all of us to research .  Forexample, INTERNET is one of them, Ariana TV 2nd source. . . and many others!

Oh ans lets not forget AFGHANMANIA freinds!

I also think that DUH HH H H H  common sense , we should all know our backround ( religion, culture).   I mean . . . .why pretend to be someone u r not.   ? ? ? ? ?

THis jsut my opinion . . .

for some reason this topic seems repeated to me.. again the answer is simple.. it is the parent's responsibility to keep the afghan culture alive.. growing up in younger age..it is parent's responsibility to talk to their kids in dari/ pashtoo to keep the afghan language, Read Qurhan with them so that they know how to read arabic, dari/pashtoo.. teach them namaz so that they know about thier religion..these are the important stuff that u don't learn from a t.v chanel or movies when u r 6 or 7 years old.. i remmeber when we came to america six years ago my youngest brother who is 12 now was taught Qurhan sharif by my mom.. during the bed time my mom used to read Qurhan loud and asked him to repeat after her.. now he is 12 Namekhuda and he knows all the Surayee namaz and Namaz..and he can read and write dari/ pashto and arabic.

thanks for your posts!

one more reason that I know is that many parents are too busy at work. They dont spend enough time with their kids. when the kids come home from school the parents are not at home. they are coming at the evening. Mom is making the dinner father is still at work and he comes later. After a long work day the dont have "ausela" to talk about too seriouse stuff with their kids!

i agree with everyone :) nice topic T jan

for sure parents are the key , they are the one that can pass on the info they have to their childrenz in oder to help them nt to forget our afghan traditions and culture. dorost asta ke dey ganna be busy but if they want to be responsible and a good parents they they shod leave sum time for their childerns no mata so and wat. i tnk e mohem tar az paysa payda kadan asta.

madar padar asta ke metana oshtoke khoda ba har raye bebara , bastagi ba tarbeye family dara e cheza. and oda sources comes aftaward.

this was my view
