salam,

my sister in law is not an afghan girl but she is 10000 % better instead of some afghan girls. We all the whole family love her very very much and we all respect her very much. She dont kiss hands or cook afghan foods ;-) but she has only a strong personality and nice heart. That is important. In some way its also important to speak Dari else  she cant communicate with us. Now she speaks fluently dari and knows alot about our culture and how we think and live.

its important to speak a little dari and just show respect for afghan culture and traditions. you dont have to accept them just respect them.

I think that  It all has to do with they person ur having the relationship with  .. . . if he respects and accepts his culture / religion than u will definately learn from him. But if he has no interest in his religion/cuture than why would you waste ur time to be someone ur not whic he could care less about in the first place.
